Brazil and EU to launch strategic partnership

04/07/2007

The European Union and Brazil will launch a Strategic Partnership at a meeting in Lisbon on July 4, aimed at improving economic and political ties between Europe and the South American country, beginning in 2008.

The EU proposed the partnership in May, stating that it was a justified move in view of Brazil’s increasing importance in the international market, and has proposed a number of initiatives to strengthen bilateral relations and identify sectors and activities in which the two parties could improve co-operation.
