According to a new study released by US research company Global Industry Analysts, Inc., growing concerns over the safety of workers, protection from injury and infection, toxic chemical agents, fire and chemicals have driven growth within the protective equipment industry.
The report, ‘Industrial Protective Clothing: A Global Strategic Business Report’, reviews issues such as market trends and drivers, competition, regulatory environment and mergers and acquisitions. It analyses both established and emerging geographic markets including the US, Japan, Germany, the UK, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East.
According to the study, Europe is the largest market for protective clothing worldwide, with 2007 revenues estimated at $1.6 billion, followed by USA and Japan. Collectively these three regions represent over 70% of the global industrial protective clothing market. Germany is currently the single largest market followed by the UK and France, whilst Asia and Latin America are seen to offer strong growth potential.
The report states that revenue estimates for the chemical protective clothing market are approximately $3.3 billion for 2007, while the thermal clothing market is expected to total $2.3 billion by 2010.
