Sympatex wins ispo Performance Award

Munich-based manufacturer of functional waterproof breathable products Sympatex Technology has won its second ispo award this year. The eleven-strong jury chose the company’s Airflow laminate with added higH2Out as the winner of the footwear category.

The prototype shoe’s laminate design is said to offer 120% better breathability than conventional laminates, as perspiration is soaked up by a hydrophilic inner layer—the higH2Out lining—and is swiftly transported through the membrane.

A special spacer fabric in the Airflow system provides heat dissipation as a result of improved ventilation so that each time the foot flexes, the spacer fabric is pressed together and warm air is pumped out both vertically and horizontally for an optimum inner-shoe climate. The laminate is also 100% wind- and waterproof.
