New BASF AEOA plant goes on stream

05/07/2007

German chemicals company BASF has started up its new alkylethanolamines (AEOA) plant at its US Verbund site in Geismar, Louisiana, approximately one month ahead of schedule. The new plant complements existing amine production facilities at the site, which now produce 20 different specialty amines, and increases BASF’s worldwide production capacity for AEOA by about 40%.

In addition to alkyl-, alkanol-, alkoxyalkyl-, di- and polyamines, the company also produces aromatic, heterocyclic amines, as well as chiral amines which are used in the manufacture of plastics and coating resins and form part of the process chemical formulations applied in water treatment as well as leather, textile and paper manufacturing.
