US producer of performance fibres Rayonier has appointed Charles Hood vice president, Corporate Affairs, reporting to Lee Thomas, chairman, president and CEO. He succeeds Jay Fredericksen who plans to retire in September after 30 years with the company.

In his new role Mr Hood, who joins the company from Georgia-Pacific, will be responsible for government affairs, corporate communications, community relations, media relations and The Rayonier Foundation.

Rayonier is involved in three core businesses: performance fibres, timber, and real estate.
