French sportswear brand Le Coq Sportif has launched two new high tech rugby boots incorporating chemical group Arkema’s Pebax polymer.

As a result of using Pebax, the two new models, Favorite and Puncher, are said to be up to 20% lighter than those made from traditional materials. They are also said to absorb impact and vibration whilst a thinner sole increases flexibility.

The new boots will be worn for the first time during the Rugby World Cup in September by international French player Frédéric Michalak.
