Europe and Japan boost Polo Ralph Lauren results

US-based apparel designer Polo Ralph Lauren Corporation has posted improved results for the first quarter boosted, according to chairman and CEO Ralph Lauren, by strong performances in Europe and Japan.

Net income improved 10% to reach $88 million compared with $80 million in the first quarter of the prior year, whilst net revenues increased 12% to $1.07 billion from $954 million.

Wholesale sales increased 17% to $574 million, compared with $491 million whilst retail sales improved 9% to $450 million; however, licensing royalties decreased 8% to $46 million from $50 million last year.
