adidas and Dow dive into swimwear partnership

A new range of swimwear called Infinitex Plus is the outcome of a joint-venture between Down Fibre Solutions and adidas.

The new range became available over the summer. It features Dow's XLA stretch-fabric and, the companies say, offers swimmers durability, performance and comfort.

Testing has shown that Dow XLA can resist more than 1,000 hours of exposure to chlorinated pool water, whereas, previously, stretch fibres have begun to lose performance after around 200 hours' exposure.

The new fibre is also better at resisting ultraviolet radiation and sun-creams, Dow claims.

On announcing the new range—which consists of six designs for women (two bikinis and four swimsuits) and six for men—adidas's head of business unit for swimming, Christine Barth, said Infinitex allowed her company to take its competitive training swimwear to a new level. It offers swimmers "unprecedented, no-compromise performance," she said.
