Real women on the swimwear catwalk

The programme of presentations at the Fashion Week Miami Swim this year included an interactive two-day event focused on what consumer research has identified as the most important consideration of women purchasing new swimsuits—fit.

Invista, who sponsored the event, called 'Reality Beach', under its Lycra brand, issued a casting call for women of all shapes and sizes who want to be selected for a "swimsuit makeover" and have the chance to take part on the runway.

Ninabeth Sowell, North American swimwear business manager for Invista, said afterwards that she thought Invista's new Xtra Life Lycra fabric was changing the way women feel about themselves in swimwear, making them feel more beautiful and confident.
