Exports to US buoy Vietnamese textiles sector

Vietnam has earned a total of $5.1 billion from exports of garments and textiles in the first eight months of this year, up nearly 30% against the same period last year.

Textiles continues to be among the sectors with highest export turnover growth.

In August alone, exports from garments and textiles products were $830 million.

The US is the biggest importer of Vietnamese garment and textiles products. Exports to the US market have increased by 20% year-on-year, accounting for 60% of the country’s total garment and textile product export turnover.

Total export turnover from garment and textile products this year is expected to reach $7.5 billion, according to the ministry of trade and industry’s trade information centre.
