German chemicals company BASF has restructured its leather and textile chemicals businesses having introduced a new “think global – act local” motto.

As a result, the two businesses will be combined under one global organisation, but will operate separately according to the different market requirements.

As of January 2008, a new global headquarters for the sector will be established in Singapore.

Head of the global business unit performance chemicals for leather and textiles, Dr Reinhard Leppkes, said: “We have been improving our structures in the two businesses, and customers can now benefit from the global management combined with a strong regional presence.”
