US imports of Cambodian garments boosts growth
Reports indicate that the Cambodian garment export sector has shown considerable growth in the first half of 2007. The apparel industry is now the country’s single largest employer and accounts for four-fifths of its total export revenues. Garment exports increased 14.3% during the six-month period compared with the corresponding period last year while July exports alone are said to have totalled more than $1.6 billion. The US continues to be the country’s top buyer, with around 70% of exports heading to America.
