Back-to-school sales boost West 49 figures

Canadian action sport retailer West 49 Inc. has reported improved sales results for the ‘back-to-’school’ five-week period ended September 15.

Net sales for the period increased 3.7% to $31 million compared with $29.9 million for the corresponding period a year ago. Growth was largely attributable to the opening of nine new stores since the back-to-school season last year.

The company mainly sells performance and branded apparel, footwear, accessories and equipment related to skateboarding, snowboarding, and surfing.
