O’Neill supports UK Open Surf Championships
Californian surf company O’Neill is to sponsor the British Open Surf Championships, which will be taking place in Newquay, Cornwall, on October 13-14. The competition will see many well-known surfers battle it out in the Open, Women’s, Seniors, Masters and Veterans divisions.
O’Neill is offering £3,000 in prize money towards the competition and reigning Champion Sam Lamiroy, who is an O’Neill team rider, will be taking part at the event. Competitors will also be competing for selection for the British Surfing Team for the World Masters Championships in Peru and the World Surfing Games in Portugal next year.
The 2006 event, which took place in North Devon, attracted more than 150 competitors and more are expected to participate this year.
