Industries has launched a new line of sweaters made from eco-friendly Innova yarns.

The new GTG Green line has been produced in collaboration with solution dyed filament yarns supplier American Fibers and Yarns Company (AF&Y).

President and CEO of Bramco Industries, Brad Barnett, said that increased demand for ‘green’ gear was the inspiration behind the collection. "Consumers are becoming much more eco-conscious and are looking for apparel alternatives that fit this category,” he said.

According to the company, Innova yarns require less energy to produce than other yarns and generate less waste than synthetic fibres – none of which is harmful industrial waste. No potentially harmful topical treatments are required and the yarns are recyclable.

Mr Barnett said the range offers a “new level of fashion, comfort and performance” as well as meeting “the needs of the environmentally conscious consumers' active lifestyles”. The sweaters are also said to be stain resistant and colourfast, bacteria and odour resistant, incorporate moisture management and are quick drying.

AF&Y executive vice president of sales and marketing, Jim Morelli, said: “Bramco's strategy of first introducing the earth friendly performance sweater to the "younger attitude" generations is brilliant. These are the consumers that will have an ever lasting impact on the environmental landscape for years to come."

AF&Y recently launched a fabric and yarn recycling programme, whereby its customers can return AF&Y goods to the company for recycling.
