New-Zealand based knitwear company Norsewear has sold its brand and six retail stores – including its original Norsewear store in Norsewood – to clothing firm Apparel Brands. Apparel Brands will continue to make the brand’s socks in New Zealand.

Norsewear has not yet decided whether it will sell its two factories but has advised staff that redundancies are liekly to occur. It currently employs approximately 85 people.

It has been manufacturing woollen garments, and particularly socks, in New Zealand since 1963.
