New Milliken military fabrics unveiled
Textile and chemical manufacturer Milliken and Company has launched several fabric solutions for military personnel at the Association of the United States Army (AUSA) Annual Meeting and Exposition, currently being held in Washington DC.
Its Abrams Flame Resistant fabrics offer advanced protection against flames and burns. These durable, printable fabrics are said to provide improved lightfastness and strength and can be used for uniforms, footwear and protective vests.
The company’s Gen III Extreme Cold Weather Clothing System is a new layered, fully-integrated system designed specifically for the Army. It includes a wind jacket, loft layer, soft shell and hard shell. The range is suitable for extreme conditions and changing climates and is currently being deployed in Afghanistan.
Milliken’s Conceal Perimeter Security Veil is a unique visibility defence system that works like a one-way window. It is currently being used in countries including Iraq as camouflage veils and screens for enhanced security around bases, camps, and outposts.
Tegris is a 100% polypropylene composite for armour applications to counter fragment, projectile and blast threats. It can be used for hard and soft armour applications, including personal body armour, vehicle armour and blast blankets.
The company’s military fabrics are currently being used in products such as flame resistant boots, perimeter veils, Nomex flight suits, baselayers and protective combat uniforms.
