RISD enlists Italian help for textiles project

10/10/2007

Students from the Apparel Design and Textile departments at Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), USA, are taking part in a collaborative project with the Italian Trade Commission (ITC) and around 20 Italian fabric and yarn mills.

Students from the two countries have paired up to design and create small collections under the project’s theme, Global Travel.

The results of the project will be presented at the RISD Museum of Art and in New York at the start of 2008.

Course instructors from the ITC and the RISD travelled to Milan and the Como region of Italy in July to visit mills and meet spinners and to select fabrics and yarns for the project.
