Burton opens Osaka boardsports store

11/10/2007

Vermont-based snowboarding company Burton Snowboards is to open a new flagship retail store in Osaka, Japan, in November.

The outlet will feature the company’s snowboard gear and apparel and will be the company’s first Japanese store to feature a premium selection of Channel Islands surfboards and surf gear.

Snowboard gear, apparel and accessories will be the focal point on the first floor during the winter months with Channel Islands surfboards and surf accessories on the store’s second floor, along with Gravis Footwear. In spring, the collections will swap places, bringing the surfboards, accessories, footwear and apparel to the first floor while the snowboard collections move upstairs.

Additional design features include a ‘cold room’ for simulating winter conditions while trying on gear on the first floor and a walk-in closet and open stock area on the second floor. Adjacent to this area will be the ‘riders lounge’, configured into three seating areas, each with its own flat-screen TV showing films and information about the brands and the boardsports.

This will be the company’s sixth flagship store worldwide and Channel Islands’ first store in Japan.
