New Banana Republic president named

Gap Inc. has appointed Jack Calhoun president of Banana Republic, effective immediately.

Mr Calhoun has been serving as interim president since February when his predecessor, Marka Hansen, was appointed president of Gap North America. He will continue to report to Gap chairman and CEO Glenn Murphy. Mr Calhoun joined Banana Republic as executive vice president of marketing in 2003.

The company has also announced that head of design for Banana Republic, Deborah Lloyd, will leave the company on October 19.

Senior vice president of merchandising, Nick Coe, will temporarily support the design team while the company looks for a replacement.
