Higher Q1 sales at Burlington Coat Factory
Branded apparel company Burlington Coat Factory has posted a 3.3% increase in sales for the first quarter ended September 1.
First quarter sales were $678.8 million compared with $656.8 million for the comparative period ended September 2, 2006. The company primarily attributed the increase to the opening of new stores over the last year, which was partially offset by a decrease in comparative store sales. .
The company recorded a net loss of $50.4 million for the three months ended September 1 compared with a net loss of $51.8 million in the prior-year period.
In addition to outerwear, its products have expanded to include ladies sportswear, menswear, footwear and accessories, among other items.
