Prague is the place for smart textiles

Event organiser IntertechPira is to host its second Smart and Intelligent Textiles conference. It will take place in Prague on December 10 and 11.
The aim of the event is to highlight developments in performance textiles, showcasing applications in sports and outdoorwear, healthcare, wearable electronics, safety and the military.
There will be speakers representing a range of prominent brands and suppliers, including The North Face, Dow Corning and BASF, and also top-level consultancies and academic institutions.
This year, the organisers are also offering—at the same venue, the Dorint Novotel Praha Don Giovanni—a one-day conference on Nanotextiles the day before the main event, 9 December. This will be a forum for discussing recent breakthroughs in applying value-add properties to textiles on the nano-scale.
In this case, the speaker-list includes a number of entrepreneurial figures who have launched start-up companies in the nanotextiles space, plus academics who will provide scientific back-up to what these new businesses are trying to achieve.
