Patagonia Europe goes greener
Outdoor clothing, footwear and equipment company Patagonia Europe is to implement web-based ordering services in a bid to make its operations more environmentally friendly.
"This should allow Patagonia Europe to increase its in-season sales, and customer service staff to do more pro-active service and selling. From an environmental point of view, we are also hoping that the B2B platform will limit the exchange of paper documents with our dealers," explained general manager, Hervé Chabert.
Patagonia’s product categories include climbing, skiing, snowboarding, surfing, fly fishing, paddling and trail running.
Its Environmental Grants Program has contributed over $29 million in cash and in-kind donations to grassroots environmental activists since the programme began in 1985, and its Environmental Internship Program allows employees to work for environmental groups while receiving their full wages. Since 1996, the company has used only organically grown cotton in its clothing line, and it has used recycled soda bottles in many of its polyester fleece garments since 1993.
