Beware the counterfeit kit
Fans of Rugby World Cup winning team South Africa have been warned not to buy counterfeit kit items, which are increasingly in circulation following the team’s victory.
Kit manufacturer Canterbury International SA (Cisa) has urged buyers to avoid the fake items which, although cheaper than the authentic goods, it believes hamper the development of the sport and harm sportswear manufacturers and the economy. The company believes that as many as 80% of supporters’ items sold are fake with jerseys, caps and scarves the most common culprits.
Cisa is set to open a number of its own stores, at which customers can be assured of buying authentic gear, and is also reported to be planning the launch of a lower-priced clothing range.
