UK textile output slips

Manufacturing output in the UK fell 0.6% in September compared with August according to the Office for National Statistics. Revised figures showed a growth of 0.5% for August, and forecasts had predicted that September output would be flat with the previous month. Output fell 0.1% year-on-year, anticipated growth of 0.6%.

Output was unchanged for the three months to September. Output of textiles, leather and clothing declined 0.3% in the quarter, while production of chemicals and man-made fibres fell 0.4%.
