South Africa reviews textile tariffs

07/11/2007

The International Trade Administration Commission of South Africa is reviewing tariffs on various industrial items including textiles, chemicals and plastics.

It is hoping to bolster the capacity of the country’s valued-added export industry, and textiles for use in apparel falls into this category. This could lead to a reduction, or even a total removal, of tariffs in order to reduce production costs.

The review process should be complete during the first half of next year.
