UK-based sporting goods retailer Sports Direct has sold its holding in Finnish company Amer Sports, which owns brand such as Salomon and Wilson, for £116 million in order to "reduce group borrowings". The retailer has profited by approximately £25 million since buying the group.

Since the start of 2007, Sports Direct has acquired US boxing equipment manufacturer Everlast, a majority stake in Field & Trek and a 25% share in UK soccer specialist Umbro.
