Adidas division acquires Mitchell and Ness
The Sports Licensed Division (SLD), part of the adidas Group, has acquired Philadelphia-based sportswear company Mitchell and Ness Nostalgia Company. Financial details were not disclosed.
SLD plans to grow and strengthen Mitchell and Ness' market position in the US as well as internationally. The company currently holds licensing agreements with the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, the National Hockey League and the National Football League (through a Reebok sub-license) to reproduce kit and other vintage-inspired athletic apparel.
“This acquisition will enable us to strengthen and expand our relationships with sports fans collecting and wearing vintage, authentic professional and college sports apparel,” said David Baxter, president of SLD.
