Golf gives Mizuno a lift

19/11/2007
Japanese sportswear and sports equipment manufacturer Mizuno Corporation has raised its operating profit estimate for fiscal 2007 to ¥7.6 billion ($69.1 million) from ¥7.4 billion previously estimated, because of renewed popularity in the Japanese golfing sector.

Osaka-based Mizuno now expects sales to total
¥170 billion for the year to next March, compared with the previously anticipated ¥
168 billion, mainly as a result of robust golf shoe and apparel sales.

For the April to September period, the company reported a 9.6% increase in operating profit, which hit
¥4,118 million and an 8% rise in sales, which totalled ¥86,907 million.
