Taiwan textile expo turns technical
An exhibition called 2007 Exhibition of accomplishments by functional textile, fashion design and sports and leisure operators recently took place in Taoyuan County, Taiwan. The show, which was held from November 10-18, focused on technical textiles and was organised by the Industrial Technology Research Institute, the Taiwan Textile Research Institute, the Taiwan Textile Federation and the Footwear and Recreation Technology Research Institute.
The opening ceremony included a fashion show, the final round of a handbag design contest, an exhibition of high-tech functional textiles, designs entered into a fashion design contest and a catwalk of models wearing advanced cycling outfits. Fabrics on show included bamboo and charcoal textiles, moisture-wicking fabrics, fireproof and sports safety textiles and textiles for the medical sector.
The exhibition featured four themed pavilions: the Sports and Leisure Pavilion, the Health and Living Pavilion, the Fashion Design Pavilion and the Design Incubation Pavilion.
