Huntsman expands TPU production
US-based manufacturer of differentiated chemicals and pigments the Huntsman Corporation is to increase production capacity at its Osnabrück, Germany, TPU facility by investing in a new TPU line. The new specialist high performance TPU line is expected to be on-stream during the second half of 2008. Capacities and financial details were not disclosed.
"We are expanding capacity due to increasing customer demand especially in Asia, Eastern Europe and the Middle East, and this investment fits neatly into our global growth strategy," said vice president of global operations for the polyurethanes business, Ron Gerrard.
TPUs combine the advantages of rubber polymers with those of thermoplastics and are used in the coated and laminated textiles, footwear and chemicals industries, among others. The company's range includes Irogran, Irodur, Irostic, Irocoat, Krystalflex and Krystalguard.
