Talon's waistbands come undone in Q3

23/11/2007

California-based supplier of apparel fasteners, trim and interlining products Talon International, Inc. has posted sales declines for the third quarter and nine months ended September 30.

Sales for the quarter were $9 million, down $4.4 million year-on-year, while sales for the nine-month period were down $6.6 million to $31.7 million. The company has attributed the decline to a drop in waistband product sales following the expiration of a sales contract in 2006.

Sales of waistband products totalled $43,000 for the three-months period compared with $3.6 million for the same period in 2006, and waistband product sales for the nine-month period were $681,000 compared with $8 million in the prior-year period.

Zip sales for the quarter were $4.2 million compared with $4.1 million in the 2006 period. Meanwhile, zip sales for the nine-month period were up $4.1 million, or 31%, compared with $17.5 million. Trim product sales for the quarter were $4.7 million compared with $5.7 million, while for the nine-month period sales were 13.5 million as compared to $17 million.
