Invista’s Intermediates business is to construct a manufacturing plant at the Shanghai Chemical Industrial Park in order to meet increased demand for nylon 6,6 intermediates and polymer. The plant, which is expected to start operations in 2010 is to use the company’s butadiene-based technology to produce hexamethylene diamine and adiponitrile, as well as a range of specialty intermediate chemicals and nylon 6,6 polymer. The company claims it will be the most energy-efficient and technologically advanced in the world.

Invista also recently revealed the extension of its joint venture operation in Foshan, Guangdong province; expansion of its LDZ joint venture spandex site in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province; and construction of a nitric acid plant in Singapore.
