Clariant Announces Global Price Increases

26/11/2007

Switzerland-based specialty chemicals company Clariant has increased global prices by between 5% and 12%.

Despite having decreased its costs in recent months, feedstock prices have risen dramatically, and the company claims price increases are the only way to offset higher raw material and energy costs.

CEO, Jan Secher, said: “In order to meet the future needs of our customers, we have to remain a strong partner, which is able to further invest in process and product innovations, as well as in the availability, quality and safety of our products. On this basis we are forced to significantly increase our prices.”

The company employs around 21,000 and generated sales of CHF8.1 billion ($7.4 billion) in 2006. Its four business divisions are: textile, leather and paper chemicals; pigments and additives; masterbatches; and functional chemicals.
