US textile and fabric finishing sector scrutinised

A new report entitled ‘Textile And Fabric Finishing And Fabric Coating Mills Industry Group in the US and its Foreign Trade (1997-2009)’ is now available from Dublin-based research company Research and Markets.

The paper includes 147 pages of research covering Fortune 500 companies, domestic and global manufacturers, retailers and wholesalers, professional trade associations, financial corporations, universities, governmental entities, start-ups and individuals.

It examines the industry's supply, demand, capacity, market size and import and export data, as well as looking at cost structure and profitability. Other topics include labour force and productivity, green manufacturing, sustainability and compliance.

According to the report, the industry group’s revenue for 2006 was approximately $10.5 billion and there were more than 1,400 establishments in the industry during the year. On average, each achieved revenues of $7.3 million.

The total import/export value for 2006 was just under $2 billion, and this included trade with 133 countries. The top trading countries were: Mexico (26.1%); Canada (20.2%); China (7.2%); Japan (6.6%); and Germany (4.2%).
