New chairman at Levi Strauss

Levi Strauss & Co. has elected Mr T Gary Rogers as chairman of its board of directors, effective February 2008. Mr Rogers, who has been a director since 1998, retires at the end of this month as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream after 30 years with the company. Mr Rogers will replace Robert Haas, who is retiring after 18 years as chairman. Having been with the company for 35 years, he will remain on the board as a director with the honorary title of chairman emeritus.

Mr Rogers currently also serves as deputy chairman of the Federal Reserve Board of San Francisco, as a director of the Shorenstein Company, L.P. and Stanislaus Food Products, and is a member and former chairman of the Bay Area Council.

The company posted 2006 sales of $4.2 billion. It manufactures and markets branded jeans and casual sportswear under the Levi's, Dockers and Levi Strauss Signature brands.
