Groupe Bikini is “excited and encouraged”
Canada-based swimwear company Groupe Bikini Village inc. has posted results for its third quarter and the first nine months ended November 3.
Net sales for the quarter were $5.4 million compared with and the nine-month period ended November 3, 2007 were $5.4 million compared with $5.6 million in the prior-year period, while sales for the nine-month period totalled $28.2 million compared with $26.9 million.
However, the company attributes this to having one less "high-season" week and one more "low-season" week year-on-year on the third quarter. It reports that when the same weeks in 2006 and 2007 are compared, net sales for the quarter rose 6.4%. Non-adjusted November sales were $2.9.million compared to $2.5 million in November 2006, a 15.6% increase.
"We are excited about and encouraged by these results, especially given that we achieved these increases despite renovations which led to average temporary shutdowns of six weeks in each of the stores we renovated," said president and CEO, Yves Simard.
The company has 58 boutiques in Quebec, Ontario and Nova Scotia and is headquartered in Boucherville, Quebec. It employs approximately 415 people.
