Iconix completes Starter acquisition

Iconix Brand Group, Inc. has completed its acquistion of the Starter brand. It bought the licensed apparel brand from sportswear giant Nike for $60 million in cash.
Founded in 1971, Starter is currently licensed to several manufacturers and wholesalers selling primarily to Wal-Mart in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Iconix believes 2008 royalty revenues from Starter will total approximately $18 million worldwide.
Iconix owns, licenses and markets brands such as Candie's, Joe Boxer, London Fog, Mossimo, Danskin and Roca Wear.
