“Great” second quarter at Nike

President and Chief Executive Officer at Nike, Inc. has described its second quarter ended November 30as “another great one”, and one in which the company could “deliver consistent, profitable growth”.

Revenue grew 14% to $4.3 billion compared with $3.8 billion in the same period last year, while net income grew 10% to $359.4 million compared with $325.6 million.

US revenues increased 7% to $1.5 billion compared with $1.4 billion for the prior-year period. Athletic footwear revenues for the US increased 12% to $983.3 million and equipment revenues increased 9% to $68.7 million. However, apparel revenues slipped 3% to $461.4 million. Revenues for the Americas as a whole increased 19% to $313.6 million from $262.5 million.

Second quarter revenues for the European region grew 18% to $1.2 billion from $1.0 billion, with footwear revenues up 19% to $646.7 million, apparel revenues up 15% to $485.9 million and equipment revenues up 24% to $91.6 million.

Revenues in the Asia-Pacific region rose 17% to $674.6 million compared with $578.2 million, with footwear revenues rising 20% to $334.1 million, apparel revenues up 15% to $289.2 million and equipment revenues showing 2% growth at $51.3 million.
