New trends at Texworld USA
21/12/2007
Themes for the display are EcoChic, Verve, Poised & Polished and Kinetic, and the exhibitors will present fabrics for the spring/summer 2009 season. A section will also be devoted to 'environmentally friendly' fabrics.
EcoChic is described as calm soothing harmonies of taupe and crystal grey with mellow yellow, pearl blue and bird’s egg green. Fabrics will include fine gauge patterned knits and jacquards, over-printing on jacquards, fluid silk jerseys and muslins. Lightweight fabrics will be embroidered and coated or foiled and natural fibres such as soya, ramie, linen, hemp, organic cotton and charcoal will appear.
Verve combines a palette of fruity colours such as persimmon, citronella and poppy with earthy and vegetal tones of antique moss, leaf green and cypress, with blurred colours, patchwork patterns, madras and ikat designs, hand-block, tie-dye and batik. Raffia and basket weaves will appear with enlarged textures.
Poised & Polished will comprise Creole pink, marigold and primrose yellow with opal grey and raw umber. It is a fashion-inspired sportswear theme with clean lines and finishes. Lightweight velveteens will have a touch of stretch, while cottons will be chintzed and mercerised.
The Kinetic theme will consist of recycled neoprenes and polyesters with glazed, coated or lacquered surfaces. It will feature strong, vivid colours such as cerulean and acacia, electric pink and kingfisher. Durable denims, nylon seersuckers and hi-tech sportswear fabrics with performance qualities such as wicking and ultra-violet characteristics will be prevalent.
