Silk and Google inspire Schoeller

04/01/2008

Swiss technical fabric developer Schoeller has released early details of its fabric collection for the autumn-winter 2009 season, with silk playing an unusually prominent role.

The company will produce combinations of silk, wool and fabrics such as its own WB-400 for use in winter sports jackets and pants. Silk will also feature in its offering for warmer weather including soft-shell material and as a lining in lighter jackets. The fibre will also blend with Schoeller's dryskin fabric to make stretch pants for outdoor use.

The collection will include a whole range of natural fibres that are enhanced with the company's finishing technologies, including NanoSphere for self-cleaning, 3XDRY for moisture management, and c-change and ColdBlack for temperature control.

On the colour front, Schoeller has drawn inspiration from sources as diverse as the shells of insect and the images on GoogleEarth. The results include irridescent and dual-colour effects, and "herringbone structures that often appear blurred" like the images on the specialist Google site.
