Chinese textile exports thrive in 2007

07/01/2008

According to reports, Chinese apparel and textile exports rose 20% in the first ten months of 2007 compared with the corresponding period in 2006. Exports for the sector totalled $142 billion, including clothing and accessories worth $95.61 billion (+23%) and yarns and fabrics worth $46 billion (+14.5%)

The top four export destinations continued to be Europe, the US, Japan and Hong Kong.

However, the country’s textile and apparel exports are struggling in the face of a reduction in export rebates, currency appreciation and raw material price increases.
