New eco-conscious Air Jordan XX3 launched

Jordan Brand, a division of Nike has introduced the 23rd edition of the Air Jordan basketball shoe. The Air Jordan XX3 was designed by a team which included Nike’s vice president of innovation design and special projects, Tinker Hatfield.

It is the first basketball shoe in the company’s history to follow the Nike Considered design ethos, which seeks to reduce waste and use ‘environmentally preferred’ materials wherever possible without compromising athletic performance. “Our goal was to make the Air Jordan XX3 the best basketball shoe ever, both in performance and sustainability,” said Mr Hatfield.

“The number 23 is obviously of great significance to me,” said Michael Jordan. “The release of this shoe is exciting and a dream come true for me,” he added.

The shoe is said to be lightweight, low to the ground, breathable, and very comfortable. The company used a newly engineered, patent-pending, stitching machine to add intricate detailing to the upper portion of the shoe. Design features include the imprint of Michael Jordan’s fingerprint, which serves as the traction pattern on the outsole and a thumbprint on the back of the tongue. Several colourways will be unveiled on January 25, when the shoe will be given a limited launch. An All-Star release will take place on February 16, while the full US launch will take place on February 23.
