El Salvador firm to make Optimer yarns

14/01/2008
US-based Optimer Performance Fibers has signed a licensing agreement with yarn and textile producer Textufil. Textufil, which is based in San Salvador, El Salvador, will manufacture the company's Dri-release fabrics.

Central America offers a number of incentives for the textile and apparel industries including tax exemptions, a well-trained labour force and proximity to US ports.

Founded in 1972 and privately owned by the Bahaia family, Textufil started out as a thread supplier and now offers a range of yarns, threads and fabrics. It will initially offer polyester/cotton finished fabrics incorporating Siro Dri-release yarn and will later add other products such as the new Dri-release E.C.O. (Environmentally Correct Origins) yarns.
