New York fashion designer John Bartlett is to design a new men’s sportwear range for branded apparel firm Liz Claiborne Inc. called Claiborne by John Bartlett, which will be in stores by Spring 2009.

Executive vice president, partnered brands for Liz Claiborne Inc., Dave McTague, said: "What the everyday man needs right now is a collection that can dress him from work to weekend with an updated yet classic look.”

“My goal is to create an enticing line at affordable prices that men will find irresistible,” said Mr Bartlett.

The designer is a two-time Council of Fashion Designers of America and Perry Ellis Menswear award winner and began his signature collection in 1992.
