Aspen Aerogels presents new insulation at OR
Massachusetts-based aerogel insulation products company Aspen Aerogels will present new nanotechnology for outdoor apparel and footwear at the Outdoor Retailer Winter Market show, which will be held January 23-26 in Salt Lake City. The company’s aerogel insulation features nano-sized air pockets that block cold and heat, while remaining thin and light. Its insulation is used in boots, jackets, and sleeping pads, which have been tested in the extreme environments, such as the summit of Mount Everest and the depths of Death Valley.
Its thermal performance is said to be up to eight times more effective than traditional insulation and it does not compress or lose performance under a heavy load. It is waterproof but enables vapour transmission and can washed and dried easily.
