Arab nations double textile exports to Brazil

According to the Brazilian Textile and Apparel Industry Association (Abit), textile exports from Arab countries to Brazil rose more than 200% between January and November 2007, totalling $40.3 million. The exports mainly comprised garments and cotton fabrics, fibres and threads. The main suppliers were the UAE ($17.2 million), Egypt ($14.3 million), Oman ($5 million), Morocco ($1.9 million) and Tunisia ($1.5 million).

Meanwhile, Brazilian textile exports to Arab nations were up 47.3% to $31.3 million between January and November. Brazil’s exports mainly comprised cotton fibres, denim, acetate fibres and sisal. Its major export destinations were Egypt ($11.1 million), the UAE ($7.4 million), Saudi Arabia ($4 million), Morocco ($2.4 million) and Tunisia ($1.7 million).
