Costa Rica suffers textile decline

Costa Rican export growth slowed in 2007, rising just 14% year-on-year to $9.34 billion. Annual growth for 2006 was 17%.

Industrial exports grew just 13% during the year, despite accounting for 78% of total export value. The sector includes textiles, exports of which fell 10% to $501.7 million and plastics and chemical exports, which showed just single-digit growth.

Agricultural exports, which account for 20% of total exports rose just 9.2%.
