New wearable Bluetooth items at ispo

24/01/2008

The Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is to demonstrate newly developed technologies for the sport and fitness lifestyle sectors at ispo Winter, held in Munich from January 27-30. Member companies such as Iqua, Polar Electro Oy, Nokia, Sony Ericsson and Motorola will display products and prototypes including watches, ski hats, stereo headsets and snow jackets at the event.

On January 28, the Bluetooth SIG will host a panel discussion to discuss the advantages of the recently introduced ultra low power Bluetooth standard. Spokespeople from Texsys, Polar Electro Oy, Nordic Semiconductors and Nokia will share their ideas and expectations about the new development. Ultra low power Bluetooth technology allows for a reduction in power consumption and cost size for small, robust button-cell devices. Consumers should be able to purchase the first of these products in 2009.
