Fire strikes at Shantou apparel factory

Reports indicate that seven people have died and another sustained minor injuries when a fire broke out at a clothing factory in Shantou, China. The cause of the fire is, as yet, unknown.
The five-story facility, based in a special economic zone in the Guangdong Province, provided accommodation for some employees. Eleven workers are believed to have been on site when the fire was discovered in the early hours of January 24.
